1. Loving the warm winter weather this past week. I took advantage and did two long runs. 12 miles on Sunday the 1st and 15 miles Wednesday. My body was seriously questioning those runs on Thursday but I'm feeling recovered now.
2. One day I could not figure out why my new watch wasn't working. Ten minutes later I realized I hadn't turned the GPS on. I still don't have the tracking software working all figured out but love checking my pace as I run. I think just knowing my pace makes me run a little faster.
3. I didn't go anywhere new this past week but I did take a trip to a thrift store. Gretchen and I needed to get out of the house for a bit and Gwen was needing some alone time. By alone time I mean some not being attacked by the baby time. It was the end of 50% off day so I didn't expect to find anything but we did find a few items. I bought an Esprit cropped style sweater. I thought it would look good with a shirt underneath but maybe not. I'm to old to have my belly showing so I either need some higher waisted jeans or it would make a nice pillow. I also picked up a brown braided leather belt and pretty coffee mug. Gretchen got a tiny plastic juice glass for her kitchen.
4. I baked delicious pretzel bread. Recipe found here. It is really good and easy to make plus you get to pour baking soda into boiling water, fun!
The pretzel bread was a side to this equally delicious black bean, kale and sweet potato soup I cooked. Recipe found here. My husband loved it and he usually steers clean of my veggie soups. This soup was chunky which I think is why he liked it better, no pureeing of the veggies.
The spread on the bread is low fat cream cheese with chopped green onions and chopped sun dried tomatoes that were soaked in olive oil mixed together.

I made a soup similar to that awhile back, but I was calling it veggie chili... good either way. A few times I've treated myself to a pretzel role from Whole Foods, they are really good (I'm sure yours is better).
ReplyDeleteThat food looks really good. Is the sweater wool? You could do some felting projects.
