1 Thing

Sunday I ran the Groundhog run 10k.  Apparently it is world famous so I'm sure you have heard of it.  It is held in a huge man made cave in east Kansas City.  The run is completely underground so no worries about the temperature outside.  Most years in January this is great this year it didn't matter so much with the crazy warm weather.  It is a flat course and after about the first half mile all the runners are thinned out so you can quit worrying about tripping over someone.

This was my 2nd 10k, I ran this same one 2 years ago, so I did PR. I finished 11th out of 137 in my gender/age division and 205 out of 1171 overall. Six minutes and 10 seconds faster than 2 years ago. I was hoping on a finishing at least a minute faster but whatever.

Rob and Gretchen hanging out with me while I wait in the super long port o potty line.

Gretchen wearing her dad's jacket from when he was her age.  She had a fun time running around in the cave.

No pictures of my mad running skills.  Spectators can only see the start and finish of the race but see how happy I am to be done.

Hearts Of A Feather

Valentine's Day is coming up and I like Valentines crafts with all the red, pink and heart shapes.  Never big that big on the holiday itself but I always appreciate an opportunity to get crafty.
I started by cutting out a bunch of cardboard hearts out of old box.  I used heart cookie cutters as my templates.

Using a glue gun to attach I covered each of the hearts with feathers.  One at a time glue then trim off excess feather parts till heart is covered.

Glue ribbon to back for hanging.

I also made some using natural colored feathers.  These would look nice all times of the year.

Bleached Out Sweater DIY

This is my red sweater before. It has a couple of light rose spots on it caused by bleach splashes.  While not that noticeable unless you really look I just don't think Clinton Kelly would approve.

After all bleached out and bohemian.  How easy was this DIY?  Super easy, I laid the sweater on my kitchen counter then carefully poured bleach somewhat strategically on sweater.  More bleach on the bottom of sweater than the top.  I let it sit for a few minutes, soon as the red started to fade I threw it in the wash before the bleach started eating holes in it.
As a bonus my kitchen counter is now sanitized.

A little Backside.
